Hello Everyone, My name is Char (Charlie) I have found myself on a new adventure with ARTS after my owner could no longer care for me, so I am looking for a person to call my own again. Here is a bit about me: I am approximately a 14 year old spayed female with long gray hair with some peachy coloured streaks and beautiful green eyes. I need to be an indoor cat only, and I prefer a home with no other animals or maybe one other calm friend. My foster home has cats and dogs but I really have not warmed up to any of them over the last month and prefer to be with people.
I am very guarded to start and I need to get to know you from a distance before I warm up. My foster home has been pretty successful at getting me to open up by giving me a small amounts of wet food daily and a calming spray. When you bring me home I will do best in a smaller area like a bathroom (I sometimes sleep in the sink) or spare room all to myself. Once I am a bit more familiar with you and my surroundings and my confidence returns I will let you know when I am ready to start walking around by greeting you at the door and walking past you and exploring.
My meow is soft and sweet and I will talk to you if you call my name or meow back at me. I am not much into the typical cat toys like balls and mice, but give me a feather on a stick and I will play with you or on my own! In my foster home I spend my days lounging in and on my favorite cat tree that has a view of the yard. I also enjoy a sunbeam on the bed.
The vet gave me a clean bill of health and said I have no concerns at all, even my teeth are still pearly white. So far I have not been picky at all when it comes to wet food, which my foster family mixes with a bit of water. As far as water goes, I much prefer to drink out of a drinking glass instead of a cat bowl. So don't be alarmed if I try to "share" every once in a while. I may also benefit from a kitty fountain.
I have not clawed the furniture in my foster home. I will use a clumping or wood pellet litter in my box. If you give me a covered box I don’t kick litter all over the floor either as I like my area clean. My longer coat does require a little maintenance to keep from getting mats in areas I can’t reach well. My one true vice is I hate going in to my carrier. Once I am in a carrier I am calmer, but getting me in one causes great anxiety, so give me lots of extra time if we have to go to the vet.
Please apply here if you think you can give me a soft place to land.
Love Char (Charlie)
